Robert Bosch (Robert Bosch GmbH) nació el 23 de septiembre de 1861 en Albeck, Alemania, y falleció el 12 de marzo de 1942 en Stuttgart. Fue un ingeniero, inventor y empresario alemán, fundador de la empresa Bosch, hoy una de las compañías tecnológicas e industriales más importantes del mundo.
Desde joven mostró interés por la ingeniería mecánica y eléctrica. Estudió en la Escuela Politécnica de Stuttgart y luego trabajó en distintos países, incluidos Estados Unidos y el Reino Unido, donde adquirió experiencia práctica en tecnología e industria.
En 1886 fundó en Stuttgart el “Taller de Mecánica de Precisión e Ingeniería Eléctrica”, que más tarde se convertiría en Robert Bosch GmbH. Su gran avance llegó con la mejora del sistema de encendido por magneto para motores de combustión interna, lo que revolucionó la industria automotriz y dio fama internacional a la empresa.
Robert Bosch no solo destacó como inventor, sino también por su visión social y ética empresarial. Fue pionero en introducir la jornada laboral de ocho horas, promovió buenas condiciones de trabajo y defendió la idea de que “es mejor perder dinero que perder la confianza”, frase que reflejó su filosofía empresarial.
